Harnett County

Senior Mobile Farmers Market & Resource Fair

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Senior Mobile Farmers Market & Resource Fair in partnership with the Harnett County Department on Aging! This special three-event series is designed to bring our certified farmers directly to Harnett County seniors at The Commons in Lillington on July 1st & 22nd and August 19th.

Seniors can use their Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) vouchers to shop for fresh, local produce and will receive an extra $20 in Double Bucks. This helps stretch their SFMNP dollars further, allowing them to purchase more fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs to support a healthy diet and budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)?
SFMNP is a federally funded program under the USDA that provides low-income seniors with $50 in vouchers to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at approved farmers markets.

What is Double Bucks for Seniors?
Our Double Bucks program matches part of what a senior spends using their SFMNP vouchers—giving them more money to spend on fresh, local food.

With your support, we can give each senior an extra $20 in Double Bucks, bringing their total spending power to $60 for the season.

Why It Matters:

  • Seniors on fixed incomes often can’t afford enough fresh produce.

  • An extra $20 may not sound like much—but it can make a real difference in what they can buy.

  • It encourages healthier eating and helps reduce food insecurity.

  • It also supports small, local farms by keeping those dollars in our community.

Why Support This?

  • It’s direct, meaningful help for seniors in need

  • It stretches existing government benefits

  • It supports local agriculture

  • It’s simple, effective, and easy to see your impact
