Celebrating Armed Forces Day at the Growers Market

Join us this Saturday at the Fuquay-Varina Growers Market to celebrate Armed Forces Day. We are honoring our active duty military and veterans with a free quart of strawberries, sponsored by Ogburn Berries & Produce.

Weather permitting, enjoy live patriotic music performed by the Band of Patriots from 10-10:30am. It's our way of showing appreciation for those who serve our country. We hope to see you there!

This week's kids' craft is making seed bombs with pollinating flower seeds. Seed bombs are small balls made of soil, clay, and seeds that you can throw into your garden or any green space. As they break down, they help the seeds germinate and grow into beautiful flowers that attract pollinators.

Saturday Market

Join us for Senior Day!

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in making this special occasion a reality.

Parking is available across the street and behind the market. We have a couple handicap spaces in the grassy area behind Ogburn Berries & Produce's stand.  If you are accompanying a senior with mobility issues, you can drop them off at the market entrance near Ellis St., where volunteers will be available to provide any necessary assistance. We will also ensure that seating and water are provided for the comfort of our seniors.

  • Volunteers from Wake County and Manna Church Capital Area will be distributing $25 in market vouchers to the first 150 low-income seniors aged 60 and above. You do NOT need to be on SNAP to qualify and no proof of income required.

  • Stop by AARP. North Carolina's tent to get a ticket for a complimentary ice cream from Francee Farms.

  • Additionally, each senior will receive a ticket for our raffle, offering a chance to win exciting prizes. Every time you make a purchase from a vendor, you will receive an entry ticket!

  • In response to popular demand, we are thrilled to have Tenille Byers with us, entertaining seniors with her musical performance from 9:30am to 11:30am.

Senior Day

This year, we have observed the difficulties confronted by seniors in our community who rely on fixed incomes. The impact of pandemic rollbacks and inflation has been particularly challenging for seniors receiving SNAP benefits.

Considering these circumstances, we have actively collaborated with our caring community of businesses, organizations, and individuals to arrange an extraordinary Senior Day at the Growers Market.

A special thank you to all of our sponsors, the Fuquay-Varina Police Department, Wake County Food Security, the Poe Center for Health Education, AARP North Carolina, and all volunteers that will be helping us on July 8th.

  • First 130 Seniors aged 60+ on fixed incomes will receive $30 in Growers Market Vouchers to purchase fresh produce, proteins, cheese, and honey

  • First 50 seniors will receive a voucher for a 4oz jar of jelly courtesy of Sugar Hills Jam & More

  • Free ice cream for all visiting seniors courtesy of AARP North Carolina

  • Free Gift Basket Raffle for all visiting seniors worth over $400
