Bridging the Gap: Food & Wellness
for All Ages

This summer, through our Bridging the Gap: Food & Wellness for All Ages program—funded by the Duke Doing Good Community Fund and in partnership with the Poe Center for Health Education—we’re excited to offer engaging, hands-on nutrition and wellness activities using the Food Smarts curriculum from Leah’s Pantry.

Food Smarts is a flexible, learner-centered nutrition and cooking curriculum for communities, available in multiple languages. Outcome evaluations reliably show the adoption of healthier dietary and food resource management behaviors. Food Smarts is a SNAP-Ed approved curriculum.

A Multi-Generational Experience

This is more than just a family event—it’s a multi-generational program designed to bring families and seniors together. Grandparents are welcome and encouraged to attend with their families or on their own.

  • Each family will receive one $30 voucher

  • Seniors will receive their own $30 voucher
Vouchers can be used at the market for fresh produce and other SNAP-eligible items.
